Mayor Kingseed to Visit La Petite Academy in Honor of Month of the Young Child

CENTERVILLE, Ohio, April 6, 2010 – La Petite Academy – located at 55 Skeeter Lane – is excited to welcome Mayor Kingseed in honor of Month of the Young Child. The Mayor will serve as a special guest reader to approximately 20 children between the ages of 3-5.

Mayor Kingseed will be onsite at the academy to read to the children at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13th. La Petite Academy teachers also have a variety of additional activities planned throughout the day.

“This is the second year that Mayor Kingseed has visited our academy for Month of the Young Child and the children love to have him,” said Amy Kelley, academy director. “The theme of this year’s national campaign is the Early Years Are Learning Years. As early educators, we know how critical these young years are for a child and it is a great time to share this message with the Mayor and our community.”

Week of the Young Child was created by the National Association for the Education of Young Children to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families, and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. Some groups – such as La Petite Academy – generate so much enthusiasm and support that they celebrate the Month of the Young Child. To learn more, please visit http://www.naeyc.org/about/woyc/.
