Learning Care Group News: March 18, 2013

March is National Nutrition Month

Every day, we learn how important it is to Grow Fit™ – with plenty of daily exercise and a healthy diet.

So on March 20, we’re rolling out a rainbow of healthy colors in honor of National Nutrition Month! That day, everyone is coming to school dressed in the color of their favorite or “secret” healthy food item. We’ll find out about the different wholesome foods we each represent and why each one is good for us. Does your child love carrots? Be sure to dress him in orange! Try red for tomatoes, wear green for broccoli, or put on purple for grapes. We’ll find out about the different wholesome foods we each represent and why each one is good for us.

Learning about the importance of a well-balanced diet is one of our most critical life lessons. To help the lessons “stick,” we’ll discover the importance of food groups with the assistance of MyPlate, our new nutrition guide.

Some schools are going even further by celebrating for several days this month. Students will learn about nutrition through art, fitness activities, song and – most importantly – healthy, well-balanced meals!
