Kindness is an Art at Learning Care Group Schools

NOVI, Mich., Jan. 8, 2014 – Kindness is proudly on display this week at Learning Care Group schools nationwide as thousands of families gather to recognize their children’s good deeds.  Childtime, The Children’s Courtyard, La Petite Academy, Montessori Unlimited and Tutor Time schools are presenting art shows featuring creative works developed by the children, inspired by acts of kindness.

The festivities cap off the schools’ Season of Kindness, a month-long celebration held during the holidays, which engaged children in opportunities to develop an understanding of compassion as well as express their creativity.  The program accentuates lessons and activities provided year-round to help introduce children to thoughtfulness and empathy.

“Integrating character development in the classroom in ways that are meaningful to children helps them better understand and learn positive values,” said Dr. Susan Canizares, Chief Academic Officer, Learning Care Group. “When we help children grasp the idea of empathy – being able to understand the experiences, feelings and ideas of another person – we make them more sensitive to the importance of kindness and generosity.”

With kindness being recognized as an area of growing importance for families, Learning Care Group’s Season of Kindness program emphasizes empathy as valuable life skill children need to live, play and work alongside others.

This is Learning Care Group’s third year celebrating the Season of Kindness.
