John Bork
President and Chief Operating Officer
As President and COO, Bork oversees a range of functions, including daily operations in the company’s core schools, integration planning on new builds and acquisitions, as well as operational policies and procedures, and marketing initiatives across the organization.
Bork brings decades of experience managing multi-unit operations and starting new enterprises. He has developed several businesses designed to support passionate people who care for others. Bork’s own passion—improving families’ lives—has guided his entire career.
Early in his career, Bork joined a small startup, VetSmart (now Banfield Pet Hospital). He found the work meaningful, but also discovered systemic issues in the field. Determined to make a difference, Bork moved VetSmart forward, combining high-quality care with efficient, supportive management practices. Banfield is now the world’s largest veterinary group.
In July 2017, Bork founded WellHaven Pet Health, a Vancouver-based multi-unit veterinary practice. As CEO and founder, Bork emphasized the importance of a supportive work environment for medical professionals, knowing the best care is provided by happy, well-supported teams. WellHaven was recognized by Forbes with their Start Up to Watch award and was named Vancouver Business Journal’s Start Up of the Year.
In 2021, Bork founded PetSmart Veterinary Services. He partnered with retail giant PetSmart to integrate a new veterinary-owned hospital concept inside their stores, enabling 60 million+ pet owners to access top-notch veterinary care—including a robust telemedicine platform—while shopping their pet’s favorite store. As empathy and communication are essential in veterinary care, the in-store clinics offer not only medical expertise but also a compassionate, supportive environment for pets and pet parents.
Bork also has served on several boards, including the State of Washington’s Wildlife Diversity Advisory Council (WDAC), VVCA (Veterinary Virtual Care Association), and Pacific Northwest Sixers, where he founded a nonprofit youth basketball program.
Born and raised in Minnesota, Bork studied Business Management at the University of Minnesota. He shares his commitment to caring for families with his wife, Jenna, an Editorial Director for a children’s book publisher, dedicated to improving early literacy in young readers.
