Learning Care Group’s Kind Kids Share Warm Wishes

shutterstock_53128864NOVI, Mich., Nov. 24, 2015 – Lessons of generosity and community spirit are coming to life for children nationwide as Learning Care Group schools celebrate the Season of Kindness. The beloved holiday custom at Childtime, La Petite Academy, The Children’s Courtyard, Tutor Time and Montessori Unlimited teaches children about giving back, paying it forward and sharing joy.

For this year’s initiative, “Kind Kids, Warm Wishes,” children are encouraged to spread warmth and love by engaging with their community through selfless acts of giving throughout the holidays. Children are secretly giving out warm wishes with the help of their parents, notifying friends and neighbors, “You’ve been hugged,” and inviting others to pass along the greeting. After blanketing neighborhoods with goodness, their good deeds will be featured in kindness quilts created at each school.

“The lesson of kindness is one of the most valuable life skills we can teach our children, and a subject of growing importance for families,” said Learning Care Group CEO Barbara Beck. ”As they begin to understand the concept of empathy, children gain self-esteem and confidence when they realize they can make a difference in someone’s life.”

At Learning Care Group schools, character development is integrated in the classroom in ways that are meaningful to children, helping them better understand and learn positive values. Children learn that kindness can include something as simple as giving a hug, lending a helping hand or sharing a toy with a friend. Teachers engage children in opportunities to develop an understanding of empathy through teachable moments and by acknowledging good deeds.

From contributing to coat and toy drives, to visiting “grandmas and grandpas” at senior centers, to sending letters and care packages for soldiers overseas, children at Learning Care Group schools are learning they can have a positive influence on the world around them. While the spirit of giving comes into particularly sharp focus during the holiday season, opportunities for community outreach draw heartfelt support from staff, students and school parents alike throughout the year.
