California

Counties: Greater Long Beach, Orange County, San Diego County, Sutter County, Ventura County, Yolo County, and Yuba County.

Name of Need Based Subsidy Agency: Children’s Home Society of California - https://www.chs-ca.org/child-care-payment-program

Subsidy Overview: This program pays for all or part of child care expenses if parents work, seek work, attend school, seek permanent housing, experience homelessness, are incapacitated,  are deemed at risk by a legally qualified professional, and/or are receiving child protective services.

Family Fees: You may be required to pay for part of your child care in the form of a co-payment. The amount you pay is based on your gross income and family size.

Georgia

Name of Need Based Subsidy Agency: CAPS (Childcare and Parent Services), a division of Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning - https://caps.decal.ga.gov/en/ApplicationProcess

Subsidy Overview: CAPS helps parent(s) who are working or in school pay for child care. The following chart provided guidance on qualifying income levels by family size. GA

Family Fees: You may be required to pay for part of your child care in the form of a co-payment. The amount you pay is based on your gross income and family size. The center you enroll with may have additional fees, as well.

Application process: To apply for benefits online you will need to create or log into your Georgia Gateway account here and selecting “Apply for Benefits”. If you would like to submit a paper application you will need to complete a contact form at the CAPS Contact Us page. Ohio

Name of Need Based Subsidy Agency: OH Department of Jobs and Family Services (OH JFS) - https://jfs.ohio.gov/cdc/Page4.stm

Subsidy Overview: The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) helps parent(s) who are working or in school pay for child care through the Publicly Funded Child Care (PFCC) program. The following chart provided guidance on qualifying income levels by family size. This is directional information and other factors may impact subsidy approval.

Texas

Name of Need Based Subsidy Agency: Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) – https://www.twc.texas.gov/programs/childcare

Subsidy Overview: The child care services program subsidizes child care for low-income families, promoting long-term self-sufficiency by enabling parents to work or attend workforce training or education activities. Eligibility is dependent on a number of factors including family income. The following chart provided guidance on qualifying income levels by family size. Application process: Each county in TX has an independent workforce board that oversees child care subsidies.Residents of Dallas County can complete the application found here or visit the Child Care Group website for more information.
